About the New Forest Beekeepers

The New Forest Beekeepers' Association represents the interests of beekeepers and beekeeping in the the New Forest and surrounding area.  We are one of the largest beekeeping associations in England, affiliated to the Hampshire Beekeepers' Association and the British Beekeepers' Association.

Beekeeping in the New Forest

The New Forest Beekeepers' Association serves those in the New Forest and surrounding area who are already beekeepers, for beginners who want to start beekeeping and need instruction, and for anyone who wishes to be associated with bees and beekeeping in the New Forest area, including members of other neighbouring Beekeeping Associations.

Bees, Beekeeping Courses, Lectures and Meetings

The New Forest Beekeepers' Association is run by enthusiastic Beekeepers.  We run our own introductory beekeeping courses as well as courses in association with The Coutryside Education Trust, in Beaulieu, practical beekeeping sessions, lectures and regular monthly meetings. We also keep certain equipment (eg. honey extractors) which are available to members.

Public Education, Schools and Observation Hive

The New Forest Beekeepers' Association is committed to Beekeeping Education, both of the public and individual beekeepers to improve their beekeeping skills. Much of our Public education is through our large presence at the New Forest Agricultural Show, which takes place in July each year, allowing many members of he public to experience bees in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere

We also have a mobile Observation Hive, which we can take into schools and other locations as and when desired. This was purchased with a grant from the New Forest Park Authority.

New Forest Beekeeping Season

Our bees have a wide range of forage, as the New Forest contains a rich variety of trees and flowers, culminating in the flowering heather. This, and the slightly milder weather, means that the beekeeping season is longer and usually more productive than in other parts of the country.
