New Forest Beekeepers - EducationThe New Forest Beekeepers' Association is committed to Beekeeping Education, both of the public and individual beekeepers to improve their beekeeping skills. Public Education Much of our Public education is through our large presence at the New Forest Agricultural Show, which takes place in July each year. On display is a wide variety of hive products including honey and mead, as well as cakes, biscuits and chocolates all made from honey recipes. There is candle rolling for the children along with microscopes, posters and beekeeping demonstrations, all helping to explain every aspect of beekeeping. We also have a mobile Observation Hive, which we can take into schools and other locations as and when desired. The funds for this were donated by a grant from the New Forest Park Authority. Beekeeping Education We run our own introductory beekeeping courses as well as courses in association with The Coutryside Education Trust, followed by practical beekeeping sessions, lectures and regular monthly meetings throughout the year. If you are interested in this course please contact our secretary by clicking on the email link below. Email: As you become more experienced you can study for the BBKA examinations, possibly by means of a correspondence course. An arrangement will be made with a qualified tutor for you to send your written answers to set questions that are designed to take you through the syllabus. These courses cover the Basic Certificate (12 question papers) as well as the eight modules (5 question papers each) that form the route to the Intermediate Theory Certificate and then on to the Senior Theory Certificate.
